Beetlejuice, directed by Burton, was released in 1988, taking shape as an inventive fantasy horror-comedy film hybrid. It starred Michael Keaton as the titular undead contractor, joined in the cast by Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder.

The film follows the exploits of the dreadful “bio-exorcist” Beetlejuice, who helps a recently deceased couple scare away their house’s obnoxious new inhabitants. Additionally, the film’s popularity has endured, resulting in an animated television series, video games and even a 2018 stage musical.
